Senior Software Engineer (TypeScript)

Location: Fully remote, with the listed salary range applicable to residents of Poland and other specified EU countries only.

Salary: 272,000–408,000 PLN base salary per year for Poland. Bonuses, equity, and benefits are not included.

What you will do

• Own the design, development, rollout, and iteration of GitLab Duo CLI features from problem definition through product feedback.
• Build interactive terminal experiences in TypeScript, including command and flag design, output formatting, scripting-friendly behavior, and backward compatibility.
• Make architectural decisions and improve CLI reliability, observability, performance, and technical debt management.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineers across Developer Clients and the AI Clients stage.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, security, developer experience, and reliability through reviews and mentorship.
• Contribute to shared features and cross-platform consistency across the JetBrains Kotlin plugin and VS Code TypeScript extension.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript.
• Experience building or maintaining command-line tools or other developer-facing tooling.
• Experience with command and flag design, terminal user interfaces, output formatting, scripting-friendly behavior, and backward compatibility.
• Ability to own technical problems end to end, make architectural trade-offs, and guide engineers through reviews and mentorship.
• Clear written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to work fully remotely in a largely asynchronous environment; the listed salary range applies to residents of the specified EU country or countries.

Nice to have

• IDE extension development, including JetBrains plugins in Kotlin or VS Code extensions.
• Knowledge of the Language Server Protocol, language servers, or editor integrations.
