Accounting Manager

Location: Kansas City, Missouri, USA; onsite

What you will do

• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, project accounting, and general ledger operations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team through performance reviews, goal setting, and career planning.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entry preparation and approval.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and collaborate with business unit leaders on financial inquiries.
• Review account reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
• Support audits, tax engagements, system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience in public accounting or private industry.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience leading teams and developing accounting staff.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and prioritization skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, less than 10%.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA or CMA certification.
• Construction accounting experience, including job costing and WIP reporting.
• Experience with accounting automation, process optimization, Microsoft Office Suite, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
