Insurance Solutions Group Middle Office Director, Investment Operations (Investment Operations)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; full-time onsite role

Salary: $215,000–$250,000 base salary per year, plus discretionary annual bonus

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Los Angeles-based Middle Office Operations team, including performance management and talent retention.
• Oversee trade processing and settlement across fixed income, equities, alternatives, repurchase agreements, bank loans, CLOs, and primary market deals.
• Manage trade issue escalation, client inquiries, investment funding, wire processing, and settlement accuracy.
• Review daily holding reconciliations and coordinate with Investment Accounting to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain SOC-1 and SOX controls, audit documentation, runbooks, task ownership, and deliverable accountability.
• Drive workflow automation, process improvements, technology initiatives, data integrity projects, and large-scale cross-functional enhancements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree; Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Information Systems preferred.
• 8–10+ years of investment management or asset management operations experience, including 3–5 years in people management or team leadership.
• Deep Middle Office or Back Office expertise across multiple asset classes, including fixed income, structured products, alternatives, and mortgage investments.
• Experience with physical settlements, repurchase agreements, bank loans, CLOs, primary market deals, and SOC-1, NAIC, and/or SEC-regulated environments.
• Strong technology skills with Bloomberg, Excel, VBA, SQL, CTM, DTCC Alert, and SWIFT.
• Excellent organizational, communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.

Nice to have

• CPA or CFA designation.
• Experience using AI tools and technologies to build, automate, or improve operational processes.
