TRS Mentor

Location: Wichita Falls, Texas, USA; regional travel to provider locations, meetings, classes, and workshops is required. Coaching may be remote or face-to-face, and occasional evening or weekend work may be needed.

What you will do

• Coach and mentor Early Learning Programs, classroom teachers, and administrators using Texas Rising Star strategies.
• Help providers attain or maintain Texas Rising Star certification and implement Continuous Quality Improvement Plans.
• Develop workshops, professional development activities, and training for early childhood professionals.
• Support providers in using child data to improve development and instructional practices.
• Maintain provider caseloads, agreements, case files, documentation, and compliance records.
• Coordinate with providers, agencies, staff, and community partners to improve child care quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education, or family consumer science.
• At least one year of full-time early childhood classroom experience in a child care, Head Start, Early Head Start, or prekindergarten through third-grade program.
• Experience providing social services to parents, children, and child care providers.
• Must pass Texas Rising Star Mentor certification; failure to pass may result in termination.
• Must communicate clearly in written and spoken business English and work effectively with diverse populations.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver’s permit, and the ability to travel extensively within and outside the service area.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of child care licensing standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Experience coordinating adult training and monitoring provider agreements or accreditation deadlines.
