Medical Assistant Instructor (Healthcare Education)

Location: San Jose, California, USA; campus-based with daily on-campus responsibilities. Part-time evening schedule, Monday–Thursday, 5:30 p.m.–9:45 p.m., varying by campus needs.

Compensation: USD 31–34 per hour, based on experience and program needs.

What you will do

• Teach medical assisting courses and provide technological and academic training.
• Prepare lesson plans aligned with syllabus objectives, student abilities, learning styles, and individual accommodations.
• Advise students on academic progress and career development.
• Evaluate student performance using cooperative learning, reports, teamwork, and other assessment methods.
• Identify barriers to student achievement and refer students to campus leadership or student services when appropriate.
• Collaborate with campus departments, academic committees, and institutional initiatives while following applicable policies and regulations.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma; advanced education or a college degree is preferred, with equivalent experience considered.
• Three years of hands-on clinical experience as a medical assistant.
• Current knowledge of medical assistant practice.
• Ability to mentor a diverse student population and work independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, interpersonal presentations, and written and verbal communication.
• Graduation from an accredited medical assisting program and current RMA, CMA, or NRCMA certification are preferred; Canvas or another learning management system is also preferred.
