Applied AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote-friendly within the U.S.; candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and work Eastern Time hours. Hiring is currently available across most U.S. states, excluding AK, AL, AR, DE, HI, ID, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MT, NE, NH, NM, ND, OK, RI, SC, SD, VT, WV, and WY. Relocation to NYC is supported.

Salary: $201,000–$261,000 annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and build agentic workflows for multi-step AI-driven application generation at scale.
• Improve LLM reasoning, retrieval, and context engineering for AI-powered development tools.
• Build and maintain production LLM pipelines, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and latency optimization.
• Fine-tune and optimize LLMs using proprietary hirify.global datasets.
• Own AI feature quality from prototyping through evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Research, and the AI team to scale research into production systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience as a Software or Machine Learning Engineer, or a Master’s/PhD in AI, ML, or NLP with 3+ years of production experience.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered features in production with evaluation, monitoring, and iteration.
• Hands-on experience building agentic AI workflows and debugging multi-step agent failures.
• Strong knowledge of RAG, context engineering, retrieval pipeline design, transformer models, embeddings, and AI model evaluation.
• Proficiency in Python and comfort working in a TypeScript/Node.js codebase.
• U.S. work authorization and availability for Eastern Time collaboration are required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Hugging Face, LangChain, or Mastra.
• Experience with hirify.global’s broader stack, including Rust, AWS, CDK, Terraform, ECS, Redis, Postgres, or React Native.
