Data Architect (Data Engineering)

Location: Budapest, Debrecen, Pécs, or Szeged, Hungary. Remote work is available only within Hungary due to European taxation regulations.

Large IT and telecommunications services provider and subsidiary of a major European telecommunications group, serving corporations across Germany and other European countries.

What you will do

• Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical enterprise data models.
• Lead data architecture for core platforms and define data standards, naming conventions, and modelling practices.
• Architect data pipelines and ETL/ELT integrations for batch, near-real-time, and streaming flows.
• Develop semantic and analytical data models for BI, reporting, and advanced analytics.
• Define data quality rules, validation frameworks, lineage, metadata, and governance processes.
• Facilitate architecture workshops and advise product, engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a closely related role.
• Strong knowledge of relational, dimensional, and Data Vault modelling techniques.
• Hands-on experience with data integration tools or frameworks such as Kafka, dbt, Spark, or Talend.
• Understanding of AWS, GCP, or Azure data platforms and modern data stack components.
• Advanced SQL skills and familiarity with Python or Scala for data engineering.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data architecture solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architectures, real-time data platforms, agile product organisations, or data mesh principles.
• Knowledge of data governance and metadata tools such as Collibra, Alation, or DataHub.
• Experience with Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or Metabase.
