Solar & BESS Engineer APAC (Solar PV)

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; full-time onsite role

What you will do

• Support BESS and solar PV projects across development, tendering, realization, testing, commissioning, and end-of-life stages.
• Assess site topography and constraints, size BESS electrical components, and select suitable standalone or hybrid storage technologies.
• Prepare and review tender specifications, employer requirements, technical specifications, and engineering design packages.
• Review BESS, PV, and hybrid simulations, models, calculations, technical requirements, tender documents, and cost elements.
• Design and assess BESS systems, including equipment selection, schematics, integration plans, grid connection, power electronics, and control systems.
• Conduct load-flow, short-circuit, and protection-coordination studies and coordinate technical discussions with EPCs, suppliers, advisors, and grid teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a similar field.
• 5–8 years of experience in electrical engineering, BESS, solar, renewable-energy construction, or utility-scale projects.
• Experience working across Malaysia and the APAC region is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of BESS and PV system design, IEC codes, project-specific standards, and techno-economic project considerations.
• Experience with BESS and solar layouts, component and electrical design, single-line diagrams, MV/HV equipment, transmission, system-loss calculations, modules, inverters, transformers, cables, and switchgear.
• Mandatory software skills: AutoCAD, PVSyst, PVCase, and Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• Experience with BESS simulation, BESS sizing tools, and other market-relevant BESS software.
