Sr Staff Software Engineer (Operations Software & Tools)

Location: Bayan Lepas, Malaysia; onsite, with no remote work available

What you will do

• Build and maintain custom software tools and factory automation for Operations Engineering and the manufacturing floor.
• Integrate shop-floor equipment and MES through SECS/GEM for equipment connectivity, tool control, and real-time monitoring.
• Develop and deploy containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes to connect operations systems and PMO workflows.
• Drive projects from initiation through delivery, including scope, scheduling, risk management, and resourcing.
• Define and improve engineering and project-management processes, including issue tracking, requirements management, and progress metrics.
• Collaborate with IT and third-party vendors on infrastructure, cloud, security, and shared tooling.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 8–10 years of software development or engineering experience; semiconductor or factory-operations experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals across Windows and Linux, with Python and C/C++ experience.
• Hands-on factory-automation and equipment-integration experience, including MES and SECS/GEM integration under SEMI E5/E30.
• Experience with containerization and deployment using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Written and verbal English proficiency and ability to work onsite in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia.

Nice to have

• Experience with makefiles, compilers, assemblers, and linkers.
• Experience with shop-floor tool interfaces and large-scale real-time equipment monitoring.
• Experience using JIRA and Confluence for tracking, requirements, and process management.
• Japanese or Chinese language proficiency.
• Experience with C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Groovy, or Bash.
