Senior Backend Engineer (DevX)

Location: Hybrid work at the SMG office in Belgrade, Serbia

What you will do

• Understand engineering teams’ challenges and improve their developer experience.
• Design, implement, and maintain internal tooling and systems for the internal development platform.
• Support agentic coding through the engineering platform.
• Define development processes, frameworks, and best practices.
• Collaborate with an international engineering community and contribute to platform and tooling improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with TypeScript.
• 2+ years implementing serverless, event-driven microservice architectures on AWS, including Lambda, SQS, SNS, and API Gateway.
• Experience building pipelines with GitHub Actions.
• Solid experience with automated testing and multiple testing strategies and paradigms.
• AI-first development mindset, product-oriented ownership, and interest in AI and agentic coding.
• Strong English communication skills and availability for hybrid work in Belgrade, Serbia.

Nice to have

• Experience in Developer Experience or Platform Engineering.
• Experience maintaining libraries and developer tooling.
• Experience integrating AI into engineering stacks.
