Senior Electronic Engineer Consultant (Surgical Systems)

What you will do

• Lead electronic engineering across the full product lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through detailed design, verification, validation, and transfer to manufacture.
• Translate client, clinical, and user needs into engineering requirements and commercially viable solutions for surgical medical technologies.
• Lead small and medium-sized projects or workstreams, owning electronics work packages and balancing risk, cost, quality, speed, and regulatory considerations.
• Define system architectures, identify subsystem interactions, and communicate complex engineering topics to clients, teams, and stakeholders.
• Support project reviews, business development, and proposal work with technical and commercial input.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and help build collaborative project teams.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in electronic engineering within product development, ideally in medical devices, surgical systems, or another regulated sector.
• Experience designing complex schematics and PCB layouts for analogue, digital, and power circuitry in embedded systems, including high-speed digital designs.
• Ability to take complex products or systems from concept through development and transfer to manufacture.
• Strong project management skills covering requirements gathering, planning, prioritisation, stakeholder communication, and milestone delivery.
• Commercial judgement across product value, manufacturability, cost, risk, and client needs.
• Clear communication, ownership, collaboration, adaptability, and willingness to travel for in-person meetings and client engagements.

Nice to have

• Awareness of digital electronics, embedded systems, and FPGA development.
• Experience with C and C++ in embedded or hardware-adjacent development environments.
