Internal Audit Consultant (Healthcare)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid with an in-office requirement of 3 days per week.

Base pay range: $70,600–$149,600 annually, plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Supervise, develop, and support audit staff and audit teams.
• Lead and manage complex corporate audit projects.
• Develop and maintain internal control guidelines for major audits.
• Analyze the adequacy of controls in new or revised business processes and systems.
• Advise management on minimum control standards for new initiatives.
• Provide technical consultation on auditing, compliance, risk management, and corporate operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, a related business discipline, or a health-related field.
• At least 5 years of auditing experience, or 4 years of internal audit experience together with 9 years in a financial or operational environment.
• Experience leading or consulting on complex audits and supervising professional staff.
• Knowledge of internal controls, process mapping, accounting and auditing standards, data collection and analytics, documentation, and sampling techniques.
• Knowledge of accounting, financial consulting, information systems operations and design, business law, regulatory policies, compliance, and third-party risk management.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Background in financial and operational audits.
• Experience leading risk-based audits.
• CPA, CIA, CISA, CFSA, or another professional certification in accounting, audit, systems audit, or insurance.
• MBA, postgraduate courses, or other technical training.
• Experience with corporate health and life insurance operations.
