OHS Specialist (OSHA, Occupational Health and Safety)

Location: De Soto, Kansas, United States; onsite. Valid authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction is required.

What you will do

• Implement, maintain, and continuously improve occupational health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, process hazard analyses, and management-of-change activities.
• Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and regulatory inspections.
• Support emergency response, drills, preparedness initiatives, and incident response activities.
• Develop and deliver safety training, onboarding, coaching, and safety orientations for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Collaborate with operational teams, contractors, consultants, vendors, and regulatory stakeholders to reduce risk and improve safety performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute.
• At least 2 years of occupational health and safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, commissioning, or another regulated environment.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and standards including NFPA, ANSI, NEC, ACGIH, and NIOSH.
• Experience with inspections, audits, hazard assessments, incident investigations, safety training, contractor safety, and exposure monitoring.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and Microsoft Office skills.
• Working-level English reading, writing, and speaking skills are required.

Nice to have

• ASP, CSP, OSHA 30-Hour, HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, ISO 45001, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, respiratory protection, or fit-test certifications.
• Experience with commissioning, startup, construction, lithium-ion battery manufacturing, chemical handling, or other high-hazard operations.
• Experience with ISO 14001/45001, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, exposure assessments, safety committees, EHS software, consultants, contractors, or regulatory agencies.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
