Hospital Administrator (Veterinary Healthcare)

Location: Tampa, Florida, United States; onsite at a 24-hour specialty and emergency veterinary hospital.

Work with a leading pet healthcare organization operating a specialty and emergency veterinary hospital.

What you will do

• Lead day-to-day operations of a 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital across nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Improve workflows, patient care, client experience, compliance, and operational consistency while supporting hospital growth.
• Build and manage the annual operating budget, monitor monthly P&L and financial metrics, and assess pricing, revenue, labor costs, and inventory efficiency.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, coach, and develop veterinary and support staff; lead performance reviews, engagement, retention, and employee relations.
• Partner with department leaders on staffing, scheduling, caseload planning, labor costs, and work-life balance for 24/7 care.
• Collaborate with the Medical Director, hospital leadership, finance, and regional leadership on operational and hospital goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Veterinary Management, or equivalent business experience.
• At least 3 years of progressive leadership experience in veterinary medicine, preferably in a specialty or emergency hospital.
• Previous experience managing a 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital or large multispecialty practice.
• Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary hospital operations and workflow management.
• Experience with recruiting, hiring, coaching, performance management, and employee development.
• Proven financial management experience, including budgeting and P&L analysis.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, conflict-resolution, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and veterinary practice management software.

Nice to have

• Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM).
• Veterinary Technician background.
• Experience in specialty referral medicine.
• Experience leading organizational change and hospital growth initiatives.
• Multi-site leadership experience.
