Lead Software Engineer - Gov Platforms (Python/Rust)

Location: Redwood City, California; open to remote candidates in the United States.

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 per year.

What you will do

• Architect and implement government-specific versions of software platforms.
• Adapt data pipelines, APIs, and analysis tools to government infrastructure constraints.
• Own the full software development lifecycle for high-priority initiatives.
• Work directly with government stakeholders to understand technical requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex integration issues and deliver reliable, mission-critical solutions.

Requirements

• At least five years of software engineering experience and a record of owning high-priority development efforts.
• Full-stack development experience, from Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL on the frontend side to Python and Rust on the backend.
• Strong data engineering experience with pipelines, large datasets, data storage, and retrieval optimization.
• Experience developing software under stringent security and compliance standards.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and debugging skills across the stack.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with atmospheric, geospatial, or sensor data systems.
• Familiarity with AWS GovCloud or Azure Government.
• Background in systems programming, real-time data processing, or scientific computing.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or climate technology.
• Active security clearance.
