Site Reliability Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid position in North Chicago, Illinois, United States

Salary: $96,500–$183,500 per year

What you will do

• Maintain and improve production systems supporting Information Security teams.
• Build, implement, and iterate CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Manage microservices, containerized applications, hybrid cloud services, and related toolsets.
• Implement security controls across distributed systems and agents.
• Write automation scripts, standardize monitoring alerts, and improve observability.
• Support incident response, post-mortems, root-cause analysis, and DevOps practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience, Master’s degree with 5 years of experience, or a PhD.
• Foundational knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud administration.
• Experience with or strong understanding of CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Bamboo, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes or Amazon ECS, observability pillars, and Linux and Windows administration.
• Knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies with a security-first mindset.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while learning new concepts quickly.

Nice to have

• Python, Go, Bash, and Git scripting experience.
• Terraform, GitOps, ArgoCD, Helm, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana experience.
• Knowledge of databases, serverless and distributed systems, Kafka, Spark, or Hadoop.
• Exposure to SPIRE/SPIFFE, authorization controls, and MCP server integration.
• Entry-level cloud certifications and prior Agile team experience.
