Data Engineer (SQL Server)

Location: Remote; work supports a U.S. federal government client and requires the ability to obtain Secret Clearance.

What you will do

• Design and implement star-schema dimensional models, including fact and dimension tables, in Microsoft SQL Server.
• Write and optimize SQL scripts for table creation, indexing, keys, and slowly changing dimensions.
• Perform business analysis and develop ETL code and scripts based on technical specifications and business requirements.
• Develop application systems following standard methodologies for design, programming, backup, and recovery.
• Advise on programming approaches, tools, and techniques for data solutions.
• Deploy application code and hirify.globall models using CI/CD practices and support production data applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or another scientific or quantitative field.
• At least 5 years of experience designing conceptual, physical, and logical data models using enterprise data modeling tools.
• At least 5 years of experience in strategic data planning, governance, standards, and enterprise data warehouse modeling.
• Hands-on experience integrating systems with big data or data lake repositories through ETL tools.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Amazon Redshift, DBeaver, and Visual Studio; data mining and data warehousing experience is required.
• Ability to obtain Secret Clearance; active Secret Clearance is highly preferred. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are also required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, Git, and GitHub.
• SQL Server or data management certification, such as CDMP or MCSA.
• Background in the defense healthcare domain.
