Data Engineer (Telecom)

What you will do

• Develop reliable data models across raw and curated layers.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines ingesting billing, CRM, network, product, and support data into an S3-based data lake.
• Consume Kafka topics and handle late, duplicate, and out-of-order events.
• Own dbt transformations, including tests and technical documentation.
• Orchestrate and monitor Airflow pipelines with retries, alerting, backfills, and SLAs.
• Implement data quality checks for completeness, freshness, reconciliation, and anomaly detection.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of hands-on data engineering experience.
• Strong SQL skills, including window functions, CTEs, and query optimization.
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines with AWS S3, Glue, and Athena, or comparable lake and warehouse technologies.
• Practical knowledge of data modeling, raw-to-conformed layers, and dimensional modeling.
• Experience consuming Kafka or another streaming or messaging system.
• Advanced Python proficiency for ETL development, data manipulation, and automation, plus strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Airflow DAG design, retries, and backfills.
• Experience with dbt modeling, testing, and documentation.
• Exposure to Apache Iceberg or other open table formats.
• Experience in telecom or another high-volume, regulated data environment such as finance or healthcare.
