TL;DR
Supplier Quality Engineer II (Battery Manufacturing): Establishing supplier quality controls and improving raw-material quality for high-volume lithium-ion battery production with an accent on supplier audits, failure analysis, and corrective actions. Focus on investigating material root causes, monitoring production quality, and collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to reduce defects and ensure consistent delivery.

Location: Onsite in Sparks, Nevada, United States; Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. The role requires up to 20% domestic and international travel.

hirify.global manufactures cylindrical lithium-ion cells for electric vehicles at a large-scale battery manufacturing facility operated in collaboration with Tesla.

What you will do

  • Establish quality control requirements with suppliers for battery production materials.
  • Investigate production-process issues and identify material root causes.
  • Monitor raw-material quality at receipt and throughout the production process.
  • Provide supplier feedback and follow up on corrective actions for nonconformities.
  • Conduct supplier process and performance audits and support process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with procurement, production, engineering, and other departments on material-related projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Materials Engineering, or a similar field.
  • At least 5 years of quality engineering experience.
  • Experience with quality control for batteries or electronic devices and hands-on production-process investigations.
  • Familiarity with quality management tools including control charts, FTA, and FMEA, plus Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working-level English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking is required.
  • Valid authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • ISO 9001 auditing, laboratory analysis, statistical process control, or high-volume manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working with suppliers on nonconformities and defect reduction.
  • SQL, CMM, Python, CQE, or Six Sigma certification.
  • Japanese language familiarity.
