Embedded Platform Engineer (Linux Kernel / BSP)

Location: Hybrid at the Fornebu headquarters outside Oslo, with remote work available only from Norway or Europe.

What you will do

• Develop, port, and debug Linux kernel components and drivers for Device Tree, pinctrl, I2C, display, camera, USB, PCIe, power management, and suspend/resume.
• Bring new ARM-based boards from first power-on to stable platforms by working directly from schematics with hardware engineers.
• Maintain vendor BSPs, rebase vendor trees, manage mainline drift, and drive kernel upgrades, GKI, and vendor module boundaries for new OS releases.
• Diagnose boot hangs, kernel panics, race conditions, memory corruption, and thermal or power regressions, including intermittent production failures.
• Collaborate with manufacturing vendors through EVT, DVT, and PVT, support factory testing and provisioning, and distinguish hardware faults from software defects.
• Build and maintain CI/CD automation for reliable platform builds, testing, and device flashing.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience writing or porting Linux kernel drivers and strong knowledge of Device Trees, Kconfig, and kernel build systems.
• Demonstrated experience bringing up embedded systems, preferably on modern ARM-based SoCs.
• Strong C programming skills, plus Python and Bash for build and test automation.
• Evidence-driven debugging skills at the intersection of software and hardware execution.
• Interest in owning a hardware platform throughout its full lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Experience with vendor BSPs or upstream Linux kernel contributions.
• Experience with EVT, DVT, PVT, factory test tools, or international supply chain coordination.
• Familiarity with AOSP, HALs, or the Android platform boundary.
