Senior Data Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Hybrid role based in Belgrade, with an office in Belgrade

What you will do

• Design, build, and own reliable, scalable, documented data products, pipelines, and datasets.
• Apply production software engineering practices, including clean code, testing, version control, and CI/CD, to data and ML systems.
• Build reusable ML-powered products such as OCR pipelines, transaction coding suggestions, RAG systems, and agentic tools.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, alerts, and SLAs for dependable internal data products.
• Work directly with data product consumers, business intelligence, and analytics teams to gather requirements and feedback.
• Lead initiatives that expand the data product catalog and improve the supporting platform.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or DevOps.
• Proficiency with workflow orchestrators such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or comparable data platforms.
• Experience building cloud data infrastructure with GCP, AWS, or comparable providers, plus deploying services on Kubernetes.
• Practical Terraform or Pulumi experience and advanced Python, Go, and SQL skills; Java experience is also considered.
• Experience owning data products or pipelines, designing systems for reuse across teams, and collaborating directly with consumers.

Nice to have

• Experience building data platforms or data product suites from the ground up.
• Experience deploying ML models, RAG systems, vector databases, MLflow, or agents in production.
• Knowledge of Data Mesh, Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault, streaming systems, or monitoring tools such as Prometheus.
• Experience with BI tools such as Omni or Power BI.
