Highway & Concrete Civil Engineer

Location: Derby or Warrington, United Kingdom; hybrid with onsite work three days per week. The role is within the Midlands region and may require security clearance.

Requirements

• Experience designing and assessing roads, highways, pavements, and associated civil infrastructure.
• Knowledge of engineering design processes, design substantiation, technical reporting, and assurance requirements.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating technical interfaces.
• Proficiency with relevant civil engineering design and modelling software.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of American engineering codes and standards.
• Experience in regulated or safety-critical industries, including nuclear, defence, energy, transportation, or major infrastructure.
• Experience with large-scale engineering or new-build projects.
• Chartered Engineer status or progress toward professional registration.

What you will do

• Deliver civil engineering design, analysis, and assessment for roads, highways, access routes, pavements, drainage, and related infrastructure.
• Produce, review, and approve calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and design documentation.
• Develop design substantiation and technical justifications for project requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with structural, geotechnical, drainage, environmental, transportation, and other engineering disciplines.
• Support design reviews, technical assurance, risk mitigation, engineering governance, and resolution of technical queries.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and development of junior engineers and graduates.
