Detection Engineer, Information Security (Cybersecurity)

Location: Toronto, ON; hybrid work with 1–3 days per week on-site

What you will do

• Design, build, and support threat detection content that alerts Security Operations to cyber threats.
• Create correlated detections targeting specific threat activities using the MITRE ATT&CK framework and cyber kill-chain knowledge.
• Analyze endpoint, network, cloud, application, proxy, and Active Directory attack surfaces.
• Collaborate with Threat Hunting, Cyber Risk Management, DLP, SOC, Vulnerability Management, Red Team, and Incident Response teams.
• Capture and enrich context across detection processes and security outcomes.
• Work in two-week Agile sprints using a Scrum development framework and identify options for resolving blockers.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience as an Information Security Consultant or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of threat surfaces, cyber kill chains, MITRE ATT&CK, and security technologies.
• Critical thinking, analytical thinking, decision-making, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada at the specified location, with a valid work or study permit where applicable.
• Successful completion of security checks, including a criminal record check, before starting.

Nice to have

• CISSP, CRISC, or CISM certification.
