Senior Threat Analyst (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote in Canada; legal authorization to work in Canada is required without employer sponsorship

Salary: CAD 86,000–143,000 base salary per year, plus bonus eligibility and benefits

What you will do

• Monitor, investigate, and respond to alerts from the hirify.global security stack, including EDR and XDR capabilities.
• Perform end-to-end analysis of suspicious activity, phishing emails, suspicious binaries, and behavioral anomalies.
• Conduct threat hunting across customer environments and support active incident response, containment, mitigation, and recovery.
• Lead and mentor Tier I analysts through escalated cases and maintain accurate investigation documentation.
• Support detection tuning by identifying false positives and suggesting improvements to playbooks, tooling, and security operations processes.
• Manage customer cases, communicate through chat, phone, and tickets, and provide detailed handovers during shift rotations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in a SOC, MDR environment, or cybersecurity-focused IT role.
• Experience with endpoint and network security tools, including EDR, IDS/IPS, and malware detection platforms.
• Working knowledge of Windows workstation and server environments, plus Linux or macOS.
• Ability to analyze Windows event logs and telemetry, and understanding of TCP/IP, routing, protocols, and traffic analysis.
• Experience with real-time incident response, threat investigations, attacker behaviors, and techniques such as persistence, privilege escalation, lateral movement, and defense evasion.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7/365 shift rotation; legal authorization to work in Canada without employer sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and SIEM platforms.
• Ability to write and interpret SQL queries for security investigations.
• Experience with OSQuery and PowerShell scripting.
• Practical cybersecurity certifications such as GSEC, GCIA, GCIH, PEN-200, Security Blue Team L1, or similar.
