Salary: CAD 120,000–150,000 annual salary, with potential for higher compensation based on exceptional expertise.

What you will do
- Create and implement realistic lighting for indoor and outdoor 3D game environments.
- Develop dynamic and baked real-time lighting for different times of day, weather conditions, environments, and gameplay situations.
- Balance visual fidelity, realism, gameplay readability, and performance across multiplayer target platforms.
- Identify and resolve issues involving lighting, shadows, exposure, reflections, visibility, and rendering.
- Collaborate with environment artists, level designers, technical artists, VFX artists, programmers, and art leadership.
- Establish lighting workflows, best practices, documentation, and production standards.
Requirements
- Professional experience as a Lighting Artist in the game development industry.
- Experience creating lighting for realistic 3D environments and a portfolio demonstrating strong environment lighting work.
- Strong knowledge of realistic lighting, color theory, composition, exposure, photography, and cinematography.
- Professional experience with Unreal Engine and a solid understanding of real-time rendering performance implications.
- Knowledge of PBR, materials, reflections, shadows, and post-processing.
- Strong troubleshooting, artistic, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Experience lighting multiplayer or large-scale games.
- Experience with Unreal Engine post-processing, color grading, Lumen, and Virtual Shadow Maps.
- Experience with dynamic time-of-day and weather lighting systems.
- Knowledge of optimization, GPU profiling, and rendering performance debugging for large multiplayer maps.
