Mechanical Services Department Manager

Location: Dublin, Ireland; primarily office-based with hybrid working and occasional project-site visits and travel to other hirify.global offices.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the Mechanical Services Department, including workload planning, recruitment, retention, mentoring, performance reviews and professional development.
• Oversee Mechanical Services activities across projects, supporting project setup, execution, design reviews, progress monitoring, resourcing and delivery-risk management.
• Act as Mechanical Services Lead on selected projects and coordinate activities with design, project management, procurement, construction and commissioning functions.
• Support bids and business development by contributing to scopes, deliverables, execution strategies, resource plans, estimates and risk assessments.
• Provide technical leadership across HVAC, utilities, plumbing, public health and fire protection, maintaining quality, consistency, standards and practical engineering solutions.
• Promote safe design, technical reviews, project health checks, continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and effective collaboration with clients, vendors and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in engineering project delivery.
• Experience leading Mechanical or Building Services teams within a design or project delivery environment.
• Experience working on pharmaceutical, food, mission critical, laboratory or commercial projects.
• Proven experience supporting bids, project planning and resource management.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary project interfaces and project delivery activities.
• Strong leadership, people management, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Sound understanding of HVAC, utilities, plumbing and public health, and fire protection systems.
• Experience in resource planning, workload management, project reviews, commercial awareness, project risk, stakeholder coordination, problem-solving, organisation and reporting.

Nice to have

• Chartered Engineer status or an equivalent professional qualification.
