USA Software Engineer III (Backend)

Salary: $117,000–$234,000 annually, plus performance bonuses and potential stock compensation.

What you will do

• Develop high-performance, scalable catalog services for Walmart’s Catalog platform.
• Design integrations with downstream applications using event-driven and microservice architectures.
• Support catalog migration to a new platform and build NextGen upstream integrations.
• Troubleshoot business and production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements.
• Translate product and business requirements into technical solutions, write code, conduct unit testing, and resolve defects.
• Contribute to GenAI-enabled solutions that improve Seller and supplier experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant computer science or software engineering field and 2 years of software engineering experience, or 4 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Professional experience with Java and Java-based backend systems.
• Experience building microservices with Spring Boot, Spring WebFlux, and Project Reactor.
• Knowledge of distributed technologies such as Solr, Kafka, and Memcached, as well as multithreading, networking, caching, offline storage, and performance tuning.
• Experience with cloud solutions, CI/CD tools, Git, Maven, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB and Cassandra, distributed systems, DevOps practices, data structures, algorithms, and problem solving.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
