TL;DR
Coordinator, Advocacy and Public Engagement (Health Advocacy): Coordinating coalition meetings, stakeholder communications, youth council activities, and public engagement campaigns to advance federal restrictions on marketing unhealthy food and beverages to kids with an accent on advocacy materials, government relations, and coalition coordination. Focus on organizing government and stakeholder meetings, tracking advocacy activities, maintaining campaign communications and budgets, and supporting policy and content review processes.

Location: Remote or hybrid; candidates can work from anywhere in Canada. Applicants must currently reside in Canada and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Salary: CAD 46,000–60,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Coordinate Stop Marketing to Kids Coalition working group meetings, including agendas, minutes, member communications, and action-item follow-up.
  • Coordinate meetings with external stakeholders, government officials, and Heart & Stroke constituents in line with advocacy plans.
  • Draft briefing materials, letters, emails, newsletters, and other advocacy and communications materials.
  • Track Coalition government meetings, maintain stakeholder contact lists, and coordinate website updates.
  • Co-develop annual plans and facilitate activities for the Youth Against Marketing to Kids council.
  • Maintain project budgets, contracts, invoices, policy materials, research files, and internal review processes.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in political science, communications, public policy, or public health preferred.
  • General understanding of government relations and demonstrated interest in advocacy, health policy, or communications.
  • Experience with stakeholder relations and volunteer coordination.
  • Experience using Google Drive, Google Docs, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Analytical, decision-making, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing plans, handle confidential information, and learn new digital tools.
