Senior Embedded Linux / Yocto Engineer (Contractor)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain software for Embedded Linux platforms.
• Build, customize, and maintain Linux distributions using Yocto and BitBake.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues across application, operating system, and hardware layers.
• Contribute to system integration, software deployment, and platform customization.
• Design, develop, and maintain software components in C++.
• Participate in technical design discussions, collaborate with hardware and cross-functional engineering teams, and independently drive technical topics.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial experience in Embedded Linux development.
• Strong commercial experience with Yocto and Embedded Linux distribution customization.
• Strong commercial experience with C++.
• Experience debugging and resolving complex system-level issues across software, operating system, and hardware layers.
• Good English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Commercial MQTT experience and knowledge of connected devices or IoT communication.
• Experience with OTA or firmware update solutions.
• Knowledge of Secure Boot, device security, Device Tree, kernel configuration, or BSP customization.
• Experience with ARM-based platforms.
• Python scripting, CI/CD for Embedded Linux, and experience with IoT products, smart appliances, or consumer electronics.
