Senior DevSecOps Cybersecurity Engineer

Location: El Segundo, California or Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States; work-from-home flexibility is available, with on-site support as required.

Salary: $149,000–$186,000 in El Segundo, CA; $136,000–$170,000 in Colorado Springs, CO.

What you will do

• Lead cybersecurity engineering for Agile and DevSecOps software delivery teams.
• Evaluate architectures, software components, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines against DoD and Department of the Air Force cybersecurity requirements.
• Assess CVEs, analyze exploitability and mission risk, and develop remediation strategies and POA&M recommendations.
• Support RMF execution, NIST 800-53 control implementation, ATO activities, continuous monitoring, and authorization reviews.
• Validate cybersecurity readiness and secure release procedures for IL5 and IL6 production deployments.
• Communicate risks and mitigation options to developers, engineers, government cybersecurity personnel, mission owners, and leadership.

Requirements

• Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of cybersecurity, information assurance, DevSecOps, system security engineering, or related defense experience.
• Extensive experience with RMF, NIST 800-53 controls, DoD cybersecurity policies, ATO, and continuous monitoring.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating, explaining, mitigating, and remediating CVEs in accredited government production environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical audiences, executives, government stakeholders, authorization artifacts, and risk acceptance packages.

Nice to have

• Active DoD Secret clearance or higher and a master’s degree in a related technical field.
• Experience with Space Systems Command, U.S. Space Force, classified environments, SATCOM, or mission-critical space systems.
• Familiarity with Platform One, Cloud One, Kubernetes, Iron Bank, Big Bang, SSDF, and modern DevSecOps pipelines.
• Experience with STIGs, SCAP, ACAS, Nessus, Fortify, SonarQube, Snyk, Prisma Cloud, Twistlock, or similar security tools.
• Security certifications such as CISSP, Security+, CISM, CCSP, GIAC, CASP+, INCOSE CSEP, or INCOSE ESEP.
