Lead Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical/Piping) – Offshore, WHT’s, Platform, Subsea Cable

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; initially based in a contractor or fabrication yard office, then moving to an offshore site on a 6-weeks-on/3-weeks-off rotation

What you will do

• Lead mechanical and piping commissioning from system completion through start-up and final handover.
• Develop commissioning strategies, execution plans, procedures, sequences, and schedules.
• Plan and supervise pre-commissioning activities, including walkdowns, line checking, flushing, testing, drying, and preservation.
• Coordinate commissioning for process and utility piping, wellhead towers, offshore platforms, jackets, bridges, subsea tie-ins, vessels, rotating equipment, tanks, and mechanical packages.
• Manage commissioning engineers, supervisors, technicians, contractors, vendors, and interfaces with Engineering, Construction, Operations, QA/QC, HSE, and the Client.
• Manage mechanical completion, punch-list closure, turnover dossiers, handover documentation, performance testing, and project close-out.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 18–22 years of experience in mechanical and piping commissioning within Oil & Gas, petrochemical, refining, LNG, or offshore EPC/EPCI projects.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Lead Commissioning Engineer or in a Senior Commissioning role.
• Experience with offshore platforms and topsides, wellhead towers, jackets and bridges, process and utility systems, water injection, mechanical packages, and brownfield modifications and tie-ins.
• Experience across pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, operational handover, risk assessments, SIMOPS reviews, JSA activities, and Permit-to-Work systems.

Nice to have

• PMP certification.
• BOSIET/HUET certification for offshore projects.
• NEBOSH or equivalent HSE certification.
• Completions and Commissioning Management certification.
• Previous ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, or major operator project experience.
