Senior Software Engineer, Media Creation (Backend)

Location: Remote - United States

Salary: $190,000–$267,000 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the role offered.

What you will do

• Define backend architecture for media creation tools that support capturing, editing, and publishing video and image content.
• Build fast, maintainable APIs integrating with frontend clients for real-time creator experiences.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver new products and features.
• Contribute across technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Improve engineering standards and developer workflows while mentoring junior engineers.
• Balance rapid product development with quality and reliability.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience in Go, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++.
• 3+ years of experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, Thrift basics, and maintainable API design.
• Experience with distributed caching and large-scale data storage systems such as Redis.
• Ability to work fully remotely from the United States, communicate effectively, prioritize work, and deliver projects on schedule.

Nice to have

• Product thinking applied to complex workflows such as video editing timelines or AI generation tools.
• Experience with asynchronous media processing pipelines and event-driven microservices.
• Background data fetching and strong SQL-based data analysis skills.
• Experience with FFMPEG, GPAC, or similar media-processing frameworks.
