Embedded Software Engineering Intern 2027 (C/C++)

Location: On-site at hirify.global HQ in San Mateo, California, United States; available during winter or summer 2027.

Estimated hourly pay: $55–$65 USD, plus a monthly housing stipend.

hirify.global develops an integrated, privacy-sensitive, AI-powered physical security platform covering video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve embedded software for a fleet of security devices.
• Build embedded software and firmware in C, C++, and Go in collaboration with the hardware team.
• Design, develop, and verify firmware, drivers, and embedded systems software.
• Experiment with new development boards and contribute features to the existing codebase through frequent OTA releases.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables while collaborating with product management and cross-functional teams.
• Work with senior engineers to define specifications for future products.

Requirements

• Ability to work on-site at hirify.global HQ during winter or summer 2027.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a similar technical field, with graduation by June 2027.
• Internship experience developing and launching products.
• Experience with Embedded Linux, C, USB, I2C, and Yocto.
• Familiarity with Linux servers, device drivers, kernel patches, secure operating systems, and security-focused programming.
• Comfort working in an agile software development environment.
