Network Virtualization Security Architect (Telecoms): Defining security standards, blueprints, and controls for telco network virtualization platforms including Red Hat VEC, Ericsson CNIS, Nokia NCP, and Huawei FusionSphere/FusionStage with an accent on VNF/CNF security, cloud infrastructure, and telecom regulatory alignment. Focus on assessing private and public telco cloud architectures, evolving security tooling, addressing virtualization risks, and embedding controls into major network programmes.
Location: Lisbon, Portugal. Flexible hybrid work model with 8–10 in-office days per month.

What you will do
- Define and maintain security standards, guidance, design patterns, and blueprints for network virtualization platforms, including Red Hat VEC, Ericsson CNIS, Nokia NCP, and Huawei FusionSphere/FusionStage.
- Review VNF/CNF placement guidance and ensure virtualization infrastructure meets the security, resilience, and operational needs of hosted network functions.
- Lead security tooling evolution across configuration assurance, vulnerability management, monitoring, hardening, compliance validation, and continuous assessment.
- Assess private cloud, telco cloud, and vendor virtualization stacks, identifying risks, control gaps, and mitigations before deployment or scaling.
- Work with architecture, engineering, delivery, operations, suppliers, and government-relations teams to embed security into network designs and regulatory alignment.
- Contribute to telecom security standards and guidance from GSMA, 3GPP SCAS, ETSI NFV, NCSC, Ofcom, UKTL, and BSI.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field and technical qualification in fixed or mobile technologies.
- Strong background in mobile core network security, including packet core, 5G Core, and IMS/voice core environments.
- Deep expertise in VNF/CNF architectures, ETSI NFV principles, telco cloud platforms, and virtualization of critical network functions.
- Knowledge of private cloud, public cloud, and hyperscaler security, including data sovereignty and lawful interception risks.
- Experience defining security standards, hardening guidance, compliance approaches, and security testing methods.
- Fluent English required.
Nice to have
- Cybersecurity qualifications such as CISM, CISA, or CISSP.
- Professional qualifications in Prince2, SAFe, APMG, MSP, or ITIL, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, ADO, or Project.
