Senior Engineer (Python)

Location: Fully remote within the UK, with at least two mandatory in-person meetups per year. Must be based in the UK and have unrestricted right to work in the UK.

What you will do

• Own medium to large customer problems from discovery and shaping through production delivery.
• Make pragmatic technical and product trade-offs while keeping customer value at the centre.
• Work with product managers, engineers, designers, and scientists in a small autonomous squad.
• Use AI tools across the software development lifecycle with considered judgment.
• Keep code and architecture simple by identifying and correcting unnecessary complexity and weak abstractions.
• Review code, mentor engineers, and contribute to hackdays and team learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent software development experience.
• Strong experience with Python or a similar modern programming language.
• Experience with relational databases.
• Experience mentoring or coaching other engineers.
• Ability to investigate problems proactively, support assumptions with data, and communicate technical risks clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• UK-based with unrestricted right to work in the UK.

Nice to have

• Experience with Django and Django REST framework.
• Frontend experience with TypeScript and React.
• Understanding of software engineering principles, distributed system design, and production delivery.
• Experience designing and maintaining fast, scalable, well-documented APIs and relational data models.
