Platform & Cloud Engineer (Azure)

What you will do

• Operate and evolve a hybrid platform covering compute, virtualization, storage, networking, and base services.
• Administer Azure IaaS, including VMs, VNets, NSGs, load balancers, diagnostics, policies, and tagging.
• Manage and troubleshoot AKS, Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, IIS-based application servers, Azure Storage, Azure Arc, Azure Local, and Azure API Management.
• Manage VMware environments, including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and VxRail, covering upgrades, capacity, and lifecycle activities.
• Plan and execute upgrades, patching, migrations, and capacity activities while minimizing downtime and maintaining acceptance evidence.
• Create runbooks and operational documentation, and collaborate with Observability and Automation teams to improve alert quality and reduce manual work.

Requirements

• 7+ years of enterprise infrastructure or platform experience with direct operational responsibility.
• 3+ years of production Azure IaaS administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with critical operations, upgrades, and migrations, including downtime minimization.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure and cloud operations, networking fundamentals, security basics, RBAC, least privilege, and troubleshooting.
• Practical experience with Windows Server, IIS, and SQL Server operations.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role based in Lisbon, Portugal.

Nice to have

• Experience with AKS, Azure App Services, Azure API Management, Azure Arc, or Azure Local.
• Experience with VMware vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, or VxRail.
• Azure certification such as AZ-104 or higher, VMware VCP, or ITIL certification.
• Experience in 24/7 environments, media, broadcasting, or events.
• Familiarity with Ansible, Terraform, and Azure DevOps CI/CD.
