Senior Staff Software Engineer (Java, Distributed Systems & SaaS Platforms)

What you will do

• Define and drive architecture for Java-based platform services, distributed systems, APIs, and event-driven applications.
• Lead complex technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams, services, and business domains.
• Stay hands-on through prototyping, implementation of critical components, code reviews, and production troubleshooting.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, and Architecture leaders to translate business priorities into scalable technical solutions.
• Guide cloud-native architectures, microservices, data flows, integrations, and shared platform capabilities.
• Improve system performance, availability, observability, security, operational readiness, and engineering standards while mentoring Senior and Staff Engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience building production SaaS applications, distributed systems, or enterprise software platforms.
• 6+ years of experience developing production backend services using Java.
• Experience leading architecture and delivery of initiatives spanning multiple engineering teams or product areas.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience leading architecture reviews and introducing technical standards adopted across multiple teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, Kafka, or similar Java technologies.
• Experience with cloud-native, microservices-based, or event-driven architectures.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
• Experience leading platform modernization, cloud migration, or large-scale re-architecture initiatives.
• Experience integrating AI-enabled capabilities or using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT.
