Senior Observability Engineer (OpenTelemetry)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain observability solutions for cloud-native and AI-powered applications.
• Implement OpenTelemetry instrumentation for Python services and distributed systems.
• Design telemetry pipelines with AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry and configure integrations with AWS CloudWatch and AWS X-Ray.
• Implement distributed tracing using W3C Trace Context and Baggage propagation standards.
• Integrate and monitor LangChain workflows and AI application components.
• Define structured logging standards, telemetry data models, and monitoring best practices with engineering teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in observability engineering.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry instrumentation for Python applications and services.
• Experience with AWS CloudWatch Metrics, Logs, and Structured Logs, as well as AWS X-Ray.
• Strong understanding of metrics, traces, logs, telemetry, and distributed observability.
• Experience with cloud environments, production systems, source control, and collaborative development practices.
• Knowledge of W3C Trace Context and Baggage propagation standards.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangGraph or Strands agent frameworks.
• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry GenAI SIG semantic conventions.
• Experience configuring AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry collectors and export pipelines.
• Familiarity with AWS AgentCore Observability and observability for AI, agentic, or LLM-powered systems.
• Knowledge of cloud-native monitoring and distributed systems architectures.
