TL;DR
Operations Research Analyst (Defense Analytics): Applying operations research, mathematical modeling, and analytical tools to evaluate logistics feasibility, munitions and fuels posture, resupply options, and alternatives with an accent on decision-support models, simulations, and end-to-end analysis architecture. Focus on developing scalable analytical software, integrating modeling capabilities, and generating recommendations for national security missions.

Location: Onsite at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio; standard 40-hour workweek with minimal travel.

What you will do

  • Apply operations research, mathematics, and analytical techniques to support decision-making and policy development.
  • Analyze logistics feasibility related to munitions, fuels posture, resupply options, and alternatives.
  • Collect and analyze data, evaluate models and simulations, and develop decision-support tools.
  • Document findings through models, visualizations, technical papers, briefings, and reports.
  • Design software, modeling, and analysis architectures that integrate analytical capabilities across supply classes and functional communities.
  • Diagnose software issues, develop scalable code, and maintain model performance and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations research, mathematics, industrial engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience applying scientific methods and analytical techniques to analyze systems.
  • Experience with at least one analytical or statistical tool such as Python, R, MATLAB, SAS, VBA, Java, SimPy, Simio, Gurobi, or JMP.
  • Basic experience developing or using analytical models with Python, R, or C++.
  • Ability to analyze problems, recommend effective solutions, and learn customer missions and systems quickly.
  • Active Secret clearance required; ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance required.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in operations research, mathematics, industrial engineering, or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of experience applying scientific methods and analytical techniques to systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD systems, weapon subsystem design, military operations, or military logistics.
  • Experience with multiple analytical tools and with designing analytical models using Python, R, and/or C++.
  • Experience designing system architectures that integrate modeling and analysis capabilities.
