Hardware Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Bucharest, Romania

Salary: RON 202,500–297,000 gross annually

What you will do

• Lead and facilitate cross-functional Value Management and VAVE workshops for RFQs and awarded automotive programs.
• Own the ideation pipeline, including prioritization, maturity tracking, implementation status, and savings data.
• Analyze system architectures, hardware blocks, mechanical concepts, and BOMs to identify cost optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate with hardware and mechanical engineering, system architecture, procurement, and program teams to validate and implement ideas.
• Conduct technical investigations and design-change verification for analog and digital hardware functional blocks.
• Support RFQ/RFX activities and promote reuse of proven hardware blocks and value-engineering solutions across projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in hardware design, component engineering, Value Management, VAVE, or electronic cost engineering within the automotive or technology sectors.
• Understanding of automotive electronics requirements, technologies, and the end-to-end value chain.
• Basic knowledge of CAD tools for schematic and PCB layout realization and electrical circuit simulation, such as Mentor Graphics or SPICE.
• Experience with laboratory tools and hardware bench testing, plus the ability to present technical topics and facilitate workshops.
• Fluent English, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders at different levels.

Nice to have

• Experience with worst-case calculation tools such as Mathcad.
• Knowledge of infotainment interfaces including I2C, CAN, LIN, PCIe, UART, and USB.
• Automotive Tier 1 RFQ experience and experience with infotainment or intelligent-cockpit products.
• Project management and organizational experience.
