Hardware Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Bucharest, Romania; hybrid work with most office-based roles onsite three days per week.

Annual gross base salary: L 202,500–L 297,000.

What you will do

• Lead and facilitate cross-functional Value Management and VAVE workshops for RFQs and awarded automotive programs.
• Own the ideation pipeline, including prioritization, tracking, maturity, and implementation of value ideas.
• Analyze system architecture, hardware blocks, mechanical concepts, and electronic systems to identify cost optimization opportunities while preserving performance and quality.
• Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, system architecture, procurement, and program teams to validate feasibility and implement ideas.
• Perform technical investigations and design-change verifications for analog and digital hardware functional blocks.
• Support RFQ/RFX activities, savings tracking, reuse of proven hardware blocks, and continuous improvement of Value Management processes and tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in hardware design or component engineering, Value Management, VAVE, or electronic-systems cost engineering within the automotive or technology sectors.
• Understanding of automotive electronics requirements, technologies, and the end-to-end value chain.
• Basic knowledge of CAD tools for schematic and PCB layout realization and electrical-circuit simulation, such as Mentor Graphics or SPICE.
• Experience using laboratory tools and conducting hardware bench testing.
• Proven ability to lead technical presentations and facilitate workshops with internal teams and external partners.
• Strong analytical skills, including data analysis, KPI tracking, and use of relevant software tools.
• Ability to explain complex technical issues clearly and justify technical decisions.
• Fluent English and strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Basic experience with worst-case calculation tools such as Mathcad.
• Basic knowledge of infotainment interfaces including I2C, CAN, LIN, PCIe, UART, and USB.
• Automotive Tier 1 RFQ experience.
• Experience with automotive infotainment, intelligent-cockpit products, and related projects.
• Project management and organizational capabilities, including managing multiple priorities.
