Assistant Editor (Scientific Publishing)

What you will do

• Assess submitted manuscripts for journal scope, quality, ethical compliance, plagiarism, duplication, and potential paper-mill concerns.
• Manage the manuscript pipeline from submission through peer review and final editorial decisions.
• Assign manuscripts to appropriate editors and identify suitable peer reviewers based on subject expertise and workload.
• Support editors, authors, reviewers, and editorial board members through clear and professional correspondence.
• Review editorial recommendations, communicate acceptance, revision, or rejection decisions, and ensure reviewer feedback is addressed.
• Contribute to process improvements, turnaround-time reduction, team mentorship, and editorial initiatives.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience, including at least 1 year in scientific publishing.
• Good understanding of publishing processes and peer-review systems.
• Strong written and verbal English communication, email etiquette, analytical reasoning, and business communication skills.
• Subject-matter expertise in STEM, including medicine, life sciences, physical sciences, or related disciplines.
• Master’s degree or equivalent in medicine, life sciences, physics, chemistry, or humanities and social sciences.
• Experience with manuscript handling or peer-review management is advantageous.
