TL;DR
Head of Litigation & Investigations (Crypto): Leading criminal referrals, civil litigation, arbitration, regulatory enforcement responses, and sensitive internal investigations across the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa regions with an accent on prosecutorial strategy, dispute resolution, and cross-functional legal leadership. Focus on driving matters through prosecution or resolution, managing regional counsel and budgets, and building relationships with law enforcement and regulators.
Location: Hong Kong; candidates may be based in Hong Kong or Singapore. Willingness to travel across the region is required. Applicants with a current right to work in Singapore who do not require visa sponsorship will be prioritised.

What you will do
- Own the framework for identifying conduct warranting criminal referral and work with law enforcement and prosecutors through charging and prosecution.
- Lead the regional civil litigation docket, including case assessment, strategy, recovery actions, injunctions, disclosure applications, consumer claims, employment disputes, and commercial disputes.
- Lead regional arbitrations through pleadings, document production, witness and expert evidence, hearings, and enforcement proceedings.
- Develop responses to regulatory enforcement inquiries and lead sensitive internal investigations, root-cause analysis, and remediation.
- Lead and develop the regional contentious legal team, embedding AI to improve efficiency and partnering with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, HR, and Communications.
- Select and manage external counsel and experts, oversee the contentious budget, track matters and disclosures, and provide reporting to global leadership and governance forums.
Requirements
- Admission as a solicitor or barrister in Hong Kong.
- 12+ years of post-qualification experience in contentious work, including experience in Asia.
- Prosecutorial or criminal enforcement background, plus arbitration and trial experience and a track record of leading a team.
- Strong judgment in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with evolving regulatory requirements.
- Fluent written and spoken English required; professional Mandarin and/or Cantonese is strongly preferred.
- Current right to work in Singapore is prioritised, and visa sponsorship is not available.
Nice to have
- Additional qualification in England and Wales, Singapore, New York, California, Texas, Australia, or another common-law jurisdiction.
- Experience in crypto, digital assets, fintech, traditional finance, or payments.
- Experience or familiarity with Middle East disputes and enforcement.
- Prior in-house legal experience.
