Developer Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, California or New York City, New York; office attendance required on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays

Salary: $213,000–$320,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Build and evolve Developer Platform capabilities across APIs, MCP tools, and integration infrastructure.
• Create platform experiences that help customers automate workflows, customize Notion, and connect external tools and data.
• Improve the performance, reliability, robustness, and scalability of Notion’s product.
• Work with engineering, product, design, data science, and user research partners to define strategy and deliver features end to end.
• Identify and execute high-leverage technical investments that improve the flexibility and sustainability of core systems.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience shipping production software with ownership of features from conception through maintenance.
• Fluency with TypeScript across backend and frontend development.
• Experience building developer tools such as APIs and SDKs.
• Strong product judgment and the ability to turn ambiguous problems into practical technical approaches.
• Ability to align teams around shared goals while balancing business priorities and individual strengths.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI or agent tooling, evaluations, or LLM-driven product experiences.
• Curiosity about using AI tools to improve software development and delivery.
