AI & Automation Engineer

Location: Remote with a hybrid workplace; compensation is based on primary work location within the United States

Salary: $114,130–$176,681 annually, depending on U.S. geographic tier. The role is also eligible for stock options.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain AI assistants, copilots, and custom agents for HR, Finance, Operations, and other business units.
• Develop end-to-end workflow automations and integrations with Okta, HRIS, ticketing, collaboration, and knowledge base systems.
• Build APIs and middleware solutions using RESTful integrations, webhooks, and modern AI frameworks.
• Implement prompt engineering, RAG, and agentic design patterns while optimizing existing automations through usage and feedback data.
• Measure automation ROI, adoption, and user satisfaction, and collaborate with IT Operations, Security, and department leaders.
• Document technical solutions, establish AI governance and data privacy practices, and guide teams adopting AI-assisted workflows.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of hands-on experience with AI platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, or Azure OpenAI.
• 3–5 years of experience in workflow automation, process automation, or data engineering, including production automation deployments.
• Practical experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, and agentic AI patterns.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript, plus RESTful APIs, webhooks, Git, and API integration patterns.
• Experience with automation platforms such as Okta Workflows, Zapier, Make.com, or n8n, and with enterprise AI platforms.
• Knowledge of vector databases, semantic search, identity and access management, cloud platforms, serverless architectures, security and compliance, DevOps, CI/CD, and reporting tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Salesforce Einstein, or ServiceNow AI.
• Familiarity with vector databases and semantic search technologies.
