Application Support Analyst (Microsoft SQL Server)

What you will do

• Provide operational support for middle- and back-office applications, managing incidents and service requests through timely resolution.
• Lead problem management by identifying root causes, implementing workarounds, and coordinating long-term fixes with development teams.
• Manage major production incidents, coordinate stakeholders, communicate status, and minimise business disruption.
• Support application releases and changes, including code deployments, environment management, approvals, and post-release validation.
• Monitor application performance, availability, and end-of-day processing while identifying automation and optimisation opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with business users, vendors, and technology teams, as well as operational documentation and knowledge repositories.

Requirements

• Experience supporting business-critical applications in a complex IT environment.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, web technologies, and application support practices.
• Understanding of ITIL incident, problem, change, and service request management.
• Knowledge of Energy Trading and Risk Management systems, trade lifecycle processes, P&L, settlement, and risk management.
• Strong analytical, organisational, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a customer-focused approach.

Nice to have

• Experience in energy trading, commodities, or financial services.
• ITIL certification.
