Lighting TD (DNEG Animation Sydney)

What you will do

• Light and composite shots for animated feature films, following creative direction to establish mood and visual style.
• Finalize lighting shots on schedule while maintaining continuity across sequences.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues involving render noise, render times, and memory usage in a path-tracing renderer.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize tools, scripts, and workflows for the lighting department.
• Collaborate with Pipeline, Look Development, Compositing, and FX teams to integrate lighting processes into the production pipeline.
• Optimize render setups using render passes and AOVs while supporting shaders and assets in the lighting and color pipeline.

Requirements

• Previous high-end experience in a similar lighting or compositing role.
• Good working knowledge of sequence-based lighting.
• Strong knowledge of node-based lighting and compositing tools, path-trace rendering, and lighting techniques.
• Familiarity with feature animation pipelines and pipeline issues.
• Strong understanding of artistic principles and CG techniques.
• Demonstrable experience in shot lighting and compositing.

Nice to have

• Professional experience with Katana, RenderMan, and Nuke.
• A showreel featuring feature animation work.
