Linux Embedded Development Expert (Linux Kernel)

What you will do

• Develop and optimize Linux kernel subsystems, including the block/I/O layer, memory management, device drivers, and storage stack.
• Profile production workloads and optimize latency, throughput, and resource efficiency across the application-to-hardware stack.
• Debug complex system issues using ftrace, perf, eBPF, hardware counters, and other low-level analysis tools.
• Contribute patches and participate in upstream Linux kernel and storage community discussions.
• Manage Git patch series, bisect-based debugging, rebases, and upstream-quality commit histories.
• Collaborate with hardware, algorithm, and platform teams on design reviews, architecture, and code reviews while independently delivering complex kernel projects.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on low-level systems or Linux kernel development, including at least 5 years in kernel space.
• Proficiency in C and working knowledge of C++, with knowledge of kernel coding style, memory safety, and lock-ordering discipline.
• Deep expertise in at least one major Linux kernel subsystem, such as memory management, block/I/O, device drivers, or high-performance networking.
• Hands-on Linux storage experience with the block layer, NVMe, or storage backends such as SPDK or Ceph/RBD is required.
• Experience debugging across the application, kernel, and hardware boundary, plus proven open-source kernel or storage community involvement.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong communication and documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Virtualization and hypervisor internals, including KVM, IOMMU, device pass-through, or x86 virtualization.
• RDMA, InfiniBand, DPDK, RoCE, CXL, DRAM/NVMe tiering, or block-layer caching experience.
• AArch64, SIMD/NEON optimization, or ARM KVM memory virtualization experience.
• Accepted upstream kernel patches, sustained mailing-list engagement, or subsystem maintainer interaction.
• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering from a research-oriented institution.
