Director, Respiratory Discovery Disease Team (DDT) Lead, Immunology Discovery Research (Immunology)

Location: North Chicago, Illinois, United States; the Respiratory Discovery team is based at the Cambridge, Massachusetts research site.

Salary: $160,500–$305,000 base pay annually.

What you will do

• Set the scientific vision and cross-functional strategy for Respiratory Discovery Research in asthma and COPD, with potential expansion into IPF.
• Lead drug discovery pipeline programs and support portfolio milestones through First-In-Human studies.
• Identify and validate novel targets using translational immunology, pharmacology, cellular models, animal models, and complex human in vitro systems.
• Build, attract, and lead a multidisciplinary team of approximately 15+ scientists.
• Establish research collaborations with academic institutions, biotech laboratories, external collaborators, and public-private consortia.
• Evaluate internal and external licensing opportunities, biotechnology alliances, and transitions across drug discovery and development milestones.

Requirements

• MD/PhD, PhD, or MS in a related field.
• Approximately 12+ years of immunology drug discovery experience focused on chronic inflammatory and autoimmune respiratory diseases.
• Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience advancing innovative approaches into early development.
• Experience translating molecular genotyping and phenotyping into pathway and target identification and validation.
• Track record of innovative disease-model development, scientific impact, and portfolio advancement.
• Extensive people leadership experience, executive-level communication skills, and a strong global network of scientific investigators.
