Principal Security Research Engineer (GenAI Security)

Salary: $159,800–$252,800 USD base salary; select locations may use an alternate range of $191,900–$303,500 USD.

What you will do

• Design and execute security tests for GenAI applications, agentic systems, and LLM-backed products.
• Evaluate prompt injection, indirect injection, retrieval poisoning, tool misuse, sensitive data extraction, and unsafe delegation attacks.
• Research emerging multi-domain threats and translate attack methodologies into detection protections and rules.
• Create and present research findings for technical audiences and the wider security community.
• Use AI-assisted techniques and hirify.global AI workflows to expand threat coverage and accelerate detection engineering.
• Generate telemetry, validate detection methods, triage findings, and communicate risks clearly.

Requirements

• Experience working with endpoint data and understanding GenAI detection-engineering pitfalls in existing telemetry.
• Hands-on experience using LLM tools for security testing, research, or daily work, including context windows, tool use, RAG, and agentic chaining.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and modern AI/ML frameworks.
• Experience with penetration testing or vulnerability assessments for web applications or APIs, with understanding of the OWASP Top 10.
• Ability to work autonomously across projects, codebases, and distributed scrum teams, and to present findings to technical audiences.
• Ability to triage findings and explain risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with Garak, PyRIT, PromptBench, Inspect AI, or similar AI security testing tools and frameworks.
• Experience with hirify.global Security and writing or validating detections using EQL, KQL, or ESQL.
• Red Team experience and exposure to the OWASP LLM Top 10 or MITRE ATLAS.
