Location: Sterling, Virginia, United States; onsite work in an operational data center

What you will do
- Monitor and manage customer requests through Zendesk, email, and approved escalation channels.
- Provide hands-on support for customer equipment, servers, network devices, power, connectivity, and cabling.
- Perform Level 1 troubleshooting, including inspections, reboots, cable tracing, component swaps, connectivity checks, and diagnostic data collection.
- Install and decommission equipment, cabinets, cages, copper and fiber cabling, cross-connects, and customer-specific connectivity solutions.
- Install, label, route, terminate, test, and certify circuits and cabling; document circuits and audit completed work.
- Support customer onboarding, inventory validation, shipping and receiving, incident response, special projects, and shift handovers.
Requirements
- Three to five years of customer-service experience in technology, telecommunications, or a data center environment, or at least two years of technical experience in a customer-focused organization.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Working knowledge of fiber-optic and copper cabling, optical measurements, loss, reflectance, distance, and decibel readings.
- Ability to use cabling test equipment such as optical power meters, visual fault locators, copper cable testers, and optical time-domain reflectometers.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, customer service, and ticket-management skills.
- Ability to work onsite in a data center, participate in an on-call rotation, work flexible or extended hours during incidents, and lift or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in a data center, network operations, telecommunications, IT support, structured cabling, or critical-facilities environment.
- Experience with Zendesk or another ticket-management system.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, telecommunications, electronics, or a related discipline.
- Relevant industry certifications, military experience, technical-school training, or equivalent professional experience.
